The City of Grand Prairie is doing a good thing in its homeownership fair and foreclosure workshop this Saturday. The free event will include mortgage and loan officers, financial institutions, housing and credit counselors, realtors, home inspectors, appraisers and title companies, and more. These people can talk to attendees about resources available to current homeowners in financial crisis and offer advice to future homeowners about the purchase a home.
The event will include special workshops on foreclosure prevention. Existing homeowners can meet with mortgage loan servicers and credit- and HUD-certified housing counselors to learn about their options.
Oyezz will be exhibiting at the event, providing counseling in regards to short sales. Oyezz will also present a workshop about short sales, in partnership with Money Management International. The noon to 1 p.m. session, titled “Keeping the Dream of Homeownership Alive,” will help attendees determine their financial fitness level and the options available for those in distress. I’ll address short sales in a brief talk designed to help attendees understand the difference between a short sale and foreclosure, the criteria for a short sale, and what it takes to successfully conduct a short sale.
